I am a passionate New Democrat who, last February, was vetted and approved by the party to run for the nomination in Edmonton West. A New Democrat by choice, I was influenced by my grandfather, J. H. (Jack) Sturdy. He was a party founder and served in cabinet with Tommy Douglas.
I value integrity, honesty and am not afraid of hard work. If nominated, I am committed to running a winning campaign in Edmonton West. If elected, I am ready to use all my skills and abilities to se
rve the constituents of Edmonton West.
Having been a resident of Edmonton West for over six years now I know the riding and am confident that I can represent the constituents with courage and integrity. Having had the opportunity to live and work across Canada, the USA and South Korea this national and international experience adds value to my candidacy.
Around the world, social democratic governments have successfully shown that the goals of equality and economic well-being are not in conflict, rather they depend on each other. A New Democrat government will pursue these goals and build a green and prosperous Canada where no one is left behind.
I am committed to investing in job creation, emphasizing long-term viability of manufacturing and industry and diversification of our economy. We need to tackle our infrastructure deficit through a Canada-wide funding program that includes the enhancement of transfers to municipalities.
I am committed to building a clean and sustainable Canada. Clean water and air are essential to life and we must provide leadership in these areas. We need binding and clear targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
I believe in the right of all Canadians to have universal access to high-quality public health care that is transferable between provinces and territories.
Our wonderful country needs long-term, secure funding to provinces and territories for education and child care services.
